Life in the big city is changing, not only because new buildings are appearing, but also because the way people move. Now a new lifestyle is emerging in urban society that is called Transit Lifestyle, that is, a lifestyle centered around the MRT, LRT, and areas easily accessible on foot.

In the past, a 'strategic' location always meant being near a mall or a business district. Now, the meaning has shifted: strategic means near MRT and LRT stations. From there, you can go anywhere without having to deal with traffic, worrying about gas, or looking for a parking spot.

Young people in cities like Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya are starting to choose to live in apartments or boarding houses around public transportation corridors. They no longer view private vehicles as a symbol of status, but rather as a burden on mobility. Nowadays, folding bicycles, e-scooters, and e-money cards are actually considered more important than the STNK.

This phenomenon is not merely a transportation trend, but a major shift in lifestyle. Those who live in a transit-friendly area tend to be more active in getting around and walk more often every day. Travel time becomes more efficient, transportation expenditures can be reduced by up to 40 percent, and, most notably, the level of stress due to traffic congestion is drastically reduced, so they feel happier.

Areas such as Lebak Bulus, Dukuh Atas, Fatmawati, and Sudirman are now developing into mini urban communities, places to work, relax, and exercise, all within a radius of just one kilometer. Life also feels more socially connected and more environmentally friendly.

Transit Lifestyle also gave rise to new concepts such as Transit Cafe, a small cafe near the station with a fast-paced atmosphere but still comfortable. There is also Walkable Living Space, vertical housing with a tree-lined pedestrian path, and Urban Cycling Route, bike lanes around the main transit hub.

This is the future lifestyle of Indonesia's cities, no longer about owning a car, but about how to live fully without having to drive all the time.

Because when every step can lead you to your destination, life feels lighter and more meaningful. Anyone who has ever been stuck in traffic for hours and then switched to public transportation will surely understand how big a change it is for them.

Enjoy your life.
